CRESSON, Pa. -- On Tuesday, the Mount Aloysius Women's Volleyball team hosted Penn State Harrisburg in a non-conference matchup in the Athletic, Convocation, and Wellness Center. After going up two sets to one, the Mounties dropped the final two sets and the match, 3-2.
Leaders
- Freshman,
Molly Richards (Naples, Fla. / Naples), led the Mounties with a career-high, 12 kills.
- Another freshman,
Lexington Koeck (Sidman, Pa. / Forest Hills), had eight kills and only one error, as she hit .538 for the contest.

Emma Colyer (Orlando, Fla. / Olympia) had a team-high, 19 assists, while adding nine digs and four kills.
How It Happened
- The first set was a back and forth affair, as there were eight ties and five lead changes. The Mounties used a four point run, gaining a 14-12 lead and wouldn't trail the rest of the set. Penn State Harrisburg tied the set at 21 and again at 23, but the Mounties scored the final two points to win the first, 25-23.
- Both teams stayed close to begin the second set, as they were tied at 13. The Lions took control from there, scoring the next nine points for a commanding 22-13 advantage. Mount Aloysius attempted to make it close, as they cut the lead to 24-21. Harrisburg scored the final point, however, to even the match at one set a piece.
- In the third set, the back and forth match was a bit more defined. The Mounties jumped ahead, getting out to a 12-6 lead. The Lions scored six straight points to knot the game at 12, which included three straight service aces. The teams played the next 12 points even, having it knotted at 18. Mount Aloysius then scored six of the final seven points, getting two aces by
Ashlee Parrish (Northern Cambria, Pa. / Northern Cambria), two kills from Richards and one kill each from Koeck and
Madison Johnson (Hopewell, Pa. / Northern Bedford County). They headed to the fourth set, up 2-1.
- Each team again played the back and forth style, trading the lead a few times. Mount Aloysius controlled most of the set, getting themselves into a solid position, up 22-19. Penn State Harrisburg then outscored the Mounties, 6-1 down the stretch, snatching the set and tying the game at two sets a piece.
- Momentum from the fourth set carried over into the fifth set, as the Lions scored the first four points and 12 of the first 16, getting a 12-4 lead. It was too late for the Mounties, as the Lions scored three side-out opportunities to win, 15-8.
Into the Box Score
- In each set, the team with the highest number of kills won. Mount Aloysius was more consistent, as they hit .142 for the game, but were outhit in the sets the lost. In the final set, the Mounties had three kills and four errors, as they hit -.063.
- Penn State Harrisburg also got a pickup from their serves, as they had 20 aces for the game, compared to only 14 Mountie aces.
