Mounties Earn Thrilling Victory to Win Fifth Straight Match

CRESSON, Pa. -- On Thursday, the Mount Aloysius Women's Volleyball won their fifth straight contest, as they beat Hood College in four sets.

Leaders
- Freshman, Molly Richards (Naples, Fla. / Naples), led the Mounties with a career-high, 16 kills. She also led the team with 20 digs.
- Ashlee Parrish (Northern Cambria, Pa. / Northern Cambria) added 13 kills and 19 digs.
- Emily Henry (Carrolltown, Pa. / Cambria Heights) produced 10 kills and added five blocks.

How It Happened
- Mount Aloysius jumped ahead quick in the first set, scoring the first five points of the match. Hood cut the lead to two, multiple times, but ultimately the Mounties hit .333 in the set and held on to win, 25-19, with 18 points coming from a kill.
- In set number two, the Mounties struggled to find their mojo, as they had nine kills and eight errors. They fell behind early, before fighting back to tie the set at 17. Hood went ahead and scored the final eight points of the set, evening the match at one set a piece.
- The Mounties got their groove back in the third set, flying out of the gates to leads of 6-1 and 18-5. Hood fought their way back again, cutting the lead to six points at 23-17. The Blazers then gave the last two points to Mount Aloysius via hitting errors, giving the Mounties a 2-1 edge.
- Set number four was the most exciting of them all. Both teams traded the lead back and forth, with Hood leading 10-5 and Mount Aloysius leading 18-16. The Blazers scored six straight points to take a 22-18 lead. Mount Aloysius followed that up by scoring seven of the last eight points, and finishing it off with three consecutive kills from Henry, Parrish, and Richards to end the game.

Into the Box Score
- Mount Aloysius had a strong hitting advantage, hitting .238 for the game, while Hood hit just .123. The Mounties hit an impressive .333 in both the first and fourth sets.
- The Blazers serves gave the Mounties some issues receiving, as they were aced ten times, for the game.

- The Mounties will take their five-game winning streak on the road, as they travel to Lancaster Bible for a tri-match, on Saturday.
- Mount Aloysius will face both Lancaster Bible and Lebanon Valley. They will play LVC at 1:00 p.m. and LBC at 3:00 p.m.
