CRESSON, Pa. -- On Tuesday, the Mount Aloysius Women's Volleyball team opened up AMCC play as they hosted La Roche. Despite being down 2-1 in the game, they found a way to win the last two sets and earn the come-from-behind victory, improving to 1-0 in conference play.

How It Happened
- Neither team had a major advantage through a majority of the first set, with only La Roche grabbing a three-point lead at 9-6. They continued the back and forth to 19-19, before the Mounties scored five straight points to lead 24-19. After a Redhawk point,
Joelle DeLattre (Duncansville, Pa. /Â Hollidaysburg)Â ended the set with a kill, giving the Mounties a 1-0 advantage.
- Mount Aloysius gradually built a strong lead in the second set, leading by as many as seven points (19-12). While the Redhawks fought back, the Mounties got it to set point, 24-20, and were prepared to take a 2-0 lead. La Roche however came roaring back and scored six unanswered points to win the set, 26-24, and even the match at one.
- While the Mounties had an early 8-6 lead in the third set, La Roche ripped off seven straight points to grab a lead. They would extend the lead to eight points, 22-14. At set point, 24-17, Mount Aloysius made it interesting, scoring five straight points, but ultimately fell, 25-22, giving La Roche a 2-1 lead.
- In the fourth set, the teams played even most of the way. They traded points all the way to 11-11, then each team had a three point run, tying it back at 14-14. La Roche grabbed a 17-15 lead, Â but the Mounties scored nine of the next 11 points, to be a point away from tying the match, 24-19. Both teams traded points and the Mounties finished off the set with a Barr kill, making it 2-2.
- Each team saw plenty of emotions in the fifth set, trading the lead back and forth early, as the Mounties held a 7-6 lead. La Roche looked to gain control, scoring seven of the next eight points to make it 13-8, prompting a Mountie timeout. Out of the timeout, a Redhawk error gave the Mounties the serve back. Johnson managed to rack up three straight kills, prompting a La Roche timeout, with the score at 13-12. Following the timeout, La Roche had lost all their momentum, committing three consecutive errors to hand the Mounties a 15-13, fifth set victory.
Into the Box Score
- Tuesday's game pitted a solid defensive effort by the visitors against a solid offensive night from the home team. Mount Aloysius hit .157 on the day, with 67 kills, while La Roche hit just .097 with 39 kills. However, La Roche also tallied 16 blocks, while the Mounties had just five.
- Mount Aloysius won a five-set match for the first time this season. They had lost both of their previous five-set matches, losing to Lycoming and McDaniel.
1,000 Assist Club
- With her final assist of the fourth set,
Emma Colyer (Orlando, Fla. / Olympia)Â recorded her 1,000th career assist. She leads the team this season with 294 total assists.
