CRESSON, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius Women's Volleyball team played host to Penn State Behrend, on Saturday, in an AMCC matchup. The back-and-forth affair unfortunately ended with the visitors, as the Mounties fell, 3-2.

Molly Richards (Naples, Fla. / Naples) led the Mounties with a game-high, 24 kills, and added 27 digs on defense.

Kadence Della Valle (Carrolltown, Pa. / Cambria Heights), had a game-high, 29 digs, to go with two aces.

Mackenzie Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Â Shaler) had a game-high, six blocks, and also tallied 10 kills.
How It Happened
- Mount Aloysius fell behind in the first set, 5-1, commiting three errors in the opening six points. The Mounties put together a strong push, cutting the Penn State Behrend lead to one (16-15), before eventually tying the set at 20 and 21 points. However, the Lions scored four of the final five points and won the first set, 25-22.
- After an opening point by the Lions, in the second set, Mount Aloysius rattled off ten straight points to go ahead 10-1. While Penn State Behrend tried to come back, cutting the lead to three points on multiple occassions, the Mounties held strong and tied the match with a 25-14 set victory.
- In the third set, neither team truly gained an advantage, as the biggest lead in the set was two points. In the end, Penn State Behrend got two consecutive kills from Hannah Phillips, the AMCC Preseason Player of the Year, to go ahead two sets to one, winning 26-24.
- The fourth set looked very similar to the third, as Mount Aloysius had the biggest lead (three points) on two occassions, but saw the set again go into extra points. With the Mounties a point away from defeat, 25-24, the Lions committed two errors andÂ
Sydney Lechner (Bellwood, Pa. /Â Bellwood-Antis) finished the set with an ace, giving them a 27-25 victory and tying the game at two sets a piece.
- Penn State Behrend scored six of the first seven points, jumping out to a 6-1 lead in the first-to-15, fifth set. The Mounties used two timeouts to close the gap, cutting the lead to 9-8. Ultimately, the Lions offense came up clutch, registering five straight kills to extend the lead back to six points and finishing the game off with a 15-10 score, earning a 3-2 victory.
Into the Box Score
- Despite losing 3-2, the Mounties out-hit the Lions for the game. They hit .193, tallying 58 kills and just 23 errors, while the Lions hit .117 and committed 32 errors.
- In the two sets that Mount Aloysius won, they had very good numbers. In the second set, the hit .222 with 13 kills, while the Lions hit -.053. They followed that up by hitting .314 in the fourth set and with 13 kills and just two errors.
Up Next
- The Mounties are set to travel to Pitt-Greensburg, on Wednesday, for a matchup with the Bobcats.
- Pitt-Greensburg is 3-14 on the season, with an 0-3 record in AMCC play following a 3-0 loss to Wells. They were also scheduled to play St. John Fisher, on Saturday.
- Mount Aloysius has won the previous six matches against the Bobcats, including 3-0 wins in the last three.
