Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Mounties Muzzle Terriers for Third Straight Win

Cresson, Pa. -- Mount Aloysius women's basketball secured their third consecutive victory with a 62-56 win over the Hiram College Terriers this Saturday, November 18th.

Mount Aloysius opened the game strong, scoring seven unanswered points across the first three minutes of action. The game quickly shifted into a post battle, with Hiram forward Brooke Hickman and freshman forward Molly Kosmack (Homer City, Pa., Homer-Center) leading their respective team's offensive efforts. Mountie ball movement and Kosmack's post-footwork set the forward up for a dominating 20 point 15 rebound performance, shooting 9-13 from the field.

The Mounties took a 14-point lead in the half, holding Hiram to 31% shooting while maintaining an efficient 51% shooting themselves. Despite strong third quarter performances on both ends this season, the Mounties saw their visitors outscore them in the quarter, heating up from behind the arc to cut the host's lead to eight with ten minutes to play.

Hiram's hot streak continued to the five minute mark, where a Terrier 3-pointer would give the visitors their first lead of the game. A tense back-and-forth contest ensued, with each team finding points in the paint as the game winded down. Kosmack once again came up big, converting an and-1 to give her team a two point lead with two minutes to play, but it was sophomore guard Jade Love-Morris (Elizabethtown, Pa., Elizabethtown) who put the game out of Hiram's reach, banking in a jumper from behind the arc to put the hosts up five with under a minute to play.

Mount Aloysius struggled with turnovers, but their defensive performance would mitigate the damage.
Love-Morris was a defensive menace across all four quarters, recording five steals to go along with thirteen points, leading an impressive Mountie defensive effort that would see 16 team steals. Her final steal would end the game, giving the Mounties possession with ten seconds left and ending the game in a 62-56 victory for the hosts.

Mount Aloysius heads into Thanksgiving break 3-2 on the season, coming back on November 29th for a road game against AMCC opponent La Roche. La Roche enters the game 2-2, coming off a 58-42 win against Wilmington.
