Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Redhawks Peck Mounties

Pittsburgh, Pa. -- Mount Aloysius women's basketball fell to the La Roche Redhawks this Wednesday, November 30th.

Freshman forward Molly Kosmack (Homer City, Pa., Homer-Center) recorded her fourth double double of the year, earning 23 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 blocks, leading her team in all three categories for the game. Outside of Kosmack, the visitors struggled against the athletic defense of the Redhawks, with just one other Mountie, freshman guard Annalyn Isaacs (Mars, Pa., Mars), scoring in double-digit figures with 12.

Mount Aloysius would not see a lead in the game, falling behind after a minute and a half of play and struggling to find a way back as La Roche would find scoring opportunities inside and outside the arc. The second pushed the Redhawk lead as high as 23 as the Mounties would score just once in the opening seven minutes of the quarter, ending the half with the Redhawks up 21.

The third quarter was more of the same, with La Roche pushing their lead to 27 after a minute of play while limiting Mountie offensive chances. La Roche would earn their largest lead of the game with a three-pointer late in the 4th quarter, pushing the hosts up 29 with four minutes to play in the game. Plagued by troubles with finding open looks and maintaining ball security, the Mounties would fall to the Redhawks 75-54.

Both teams struggled with efficiency, with Mount Aloysius shooting 35.1% from the floor and La Roche shooting 38.5%. Similar issues were apparent from deep, with the visitors going 3-19 from deep and the hosts shooting 6-23. Delineations become apparent when looking at free throw percentages and points off turnovers, with La Roche converting almost 20% more of their opportunities at the line while earning 12 extra points off turnovers.

Mount Aloysius women's basketball hosts Pitt-Bradford this Saturday, December 2nd at 2:00pm. Pitt-Bradford enters the game 4-1 on the season, coming off a 97-15 victory over Wells College.
