Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Lions Besmirch Mounties

Altoona, Pa. -- Mount Aloysius men's basketball struggled on both ends of the court in Wednesday's conference loss to the Penn State Altoona Lions.

The Mounties would see just two players hit the double digit mark as shooting woes plagued the visitors, recording splits of 35% from the floor, 25% from three, and 52% from the line as a team. Senior forward Reggie Priah (Cleveland, Ohio, Euclid) would lead the Mounties in scoring, earning 24 points on 55% shooting to go along with 10 rebounds. The Mountie offense focused on the post, with Priah contributing half of the Mounties' 40 points in the paint for the game. Penn State Altoona would see similar success in the paint, dropping 38 points inside, but maintained shooting splits 10% higher than the Mounties from the field and behind the arc, earning a third of their points from three.

The first half was an even affair, with the lead changing thirteen times as both teams battled inside. As the Lions found success in transition while struggling from deep, Will Hagwood (Willowick, Oh., South) would hit three threes to keep the Mounties even with the hosts through the first seventeen minutes. The pushed pace in transition would cause the Mounties trouble as the half came to a close, with two quick possessions suddenly extending Altoona's lead to seven, their highest of the game so far, heading in to the second.

The second half was one-sided from the onset. The Mounties would struggle to defend without fouling early, and the Lions took full advantage, converting attempts from the line to add to their increasing makes from three. After fifteen minutes of efficient Lion shooting from everywhere on the court, the hosts would hold a 30 point lead as Mount Aloysius struggled to put together meaningful possessions. Penn State Altoona would maintain this separation as the game came to a close, defeating the Mounties 96-86. The Mounties fall to 1-2 in conference play, currently tied for sixth in the AMCC.

Mount Aloysius men's basketball travels to Erie this Saturday, December 9th to take on Penn State Behrend. Penn State Behrend enters the contest 5-3 on the year, coming off a 45-56 loss to La Roche.
