Mounties Scuffle at Hilbert; Travel to Pitt-Greensburg on Tuesday

HAMBURG, N.Y. -- On Saturday, the Mount Aloysius Women's Basketball team traveled to Hilbert, for their final game of the regular season. They fell to the hosts, 69-45.

Leaders
- China Jenkins (Fort Myers, Fla. / Evangelical Christian School) led the Mounties with 18 points, on 8-for-16 shooting. She also grabbed eight rebounds.
- Off the bench, Hailey Drutarosky (Freedom, Pa. / Sewickley Academy) returned from injury and scored eight points in 13 minutes, going 2-for-3 from three point range.
- Freshman, Molly Richards (Naples, Fla. / Naples), dished out a team-high, three assists.

How It Happened
- Mount Aloysius stumbled out of the gate, falling behind 10-0 and being held scoreless over the first six-plus minutes. They scored their only five points of the quarter on two consecutive possessions to cut the lead to 10-5, but were outscored over the final three minutes, 7-0. They trailed at the end of the quarter, 17-5.
- While the Mounties did not score a bunch in the second quarter, they still cut into the Hawk lead by allowing the home team to score just four points in the period. Mount Aloysius outscored them 11-4, cutting the lead to five points at halftime.
- To open the second half, both teams saw much higher success on offense, with the Hawks outscoring the Mounties, 22-16. The Mounties cut the lead to three points and the Hawks led by as many as 13, but it was an 11-point advantage at the end of the period, in favor of Hilbert, 43-32.
- Hilbert outscored the Mounties, 13-2, over the first three-plus minutes of the quarter to put the game out of reach. The lead would climb to as many as 27, before settling at 69-45 when the final buzzer rang.

Into the Box Score
- Mount Aloysius lost the turnover and rebound battles. Hilbert turned the ball over 19 times compared to 26 Mountie miscues. The Hawks also held a 46-29 advantage on the glass.
- Hilbert also out-shot the Mounties, going 23-for-60 (38.3%) while the Mounties were 17-for-50 (34.0%).

- Mount Aloysius has earned the #6 seed in the upcoming AMCC Tournament. It's their first appearance in the conference tournament since 2018-19.
- They will travel to #3 seed, Pitt-Greensburg, to play the Bobcats at 8 p.m. on Tuesday night.
- The winner of Tuesday's matchup will move on to play Penn State Behrend, on Friday.
