CRESSON, Pa. -- On Saturday, the Mount Aloysius Women's Lacrosse team played their first home game of the 2023 season, as they hosted Buffalo State at the Ray & Louise Walker Complex. The Mounties fought hard, but ultimately fell, 13-7.

How It Happened
- Buffalo State jumped out to an early lead, putting the Mounties behind, 5-0, all in the first quarter. WhileÂ
Jordan Mason (Hagerstown, Md. / St. Maria Goretti) scored the Mounties first goal with two minutes remaining in the first period, the Bengals scored just before the end of the quarter, making it 6-1.
- In the second quarter, the scoring slowed down. Buffalo State sandwiched two goals around two Mountie goals, keeping the five goal deficit heading into halftime, 8-3. Mount Aloysius had goals by Mason and Smeal, about two minutes apart.
- Mount Aloysius cut into the lead in the second half. The Bengals scored first, stretching their lead to 9-3, but Figinski scored twice to make it a four-goal difference. Neither team would score any more goals in the period, heading to the final quarter, 9-5 Buffalo State.
- During the final period, the Mounties continued to fight back. Buffalo State scored once in the first minute, but Figinski again scored twice, cutting the lead to 10-7. Unfortunately that would be the closest Mount Aloysius would get, as the Bengals scored the final three goals of the contest, to win 13-7.
Into the Box Score
- Much of the game was pretty even, with Mount Aloysius holding a small 24-23 advantage in turnovers and each team completing 14 clear attempts.
- Buffalo State did have a significant advantage in shot attempts, attempting 33 shots compared to only 22 Mountie chances. The difference was similar in shots on goal, with a 25-15 advantage for the visitors.

- Mount Aloysius will turn around next Saturday for their second of three consecutive home games prior to Spring Break. The will host Wilson at Kelly Field, on March 4 at 1 p.m.
- The Mounties own a 1-0 record all-time against Wilson, having won last season's meeting, 19-11.
