MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The Mount Aloysius Baseball team traveled to Myrtle Beach, S.C., for their annual spring trip, with at least seven games on their schedule. Through the first half of the trip, the Mounties have gone 1-2 overall and picked up a victory against Salem State.

Tyler Quade (Mechanicsville, Md. /Â Chopticon) has had a great start to the trip, going 6-for-11 with five RBIs and a homerun at the plate. The sophomore also got the victory in the Mounties win against Salem State, pitching 5.0 innings and racking up 13 strikeouts.

Joshua Brown (Manassas, Va. /Â Osbourn Park)Â hit one of the other two Mountie homeruns in the first three games, on his way to a 5-for-13 stretch. He's driven in four runs over that same timeframe.

Tyler Suder (Boswell, Pa. / North Star) has picked up hits in all three games, with two of the games being multi-hit efforts. He's gone 5-for-15 overall and drove in four runs, while also scoring four times.

Matthew Watkins (Broad Top City, Pa. /Â Tussey Mountain) had a solid first career appearance in a Mountie uniform. In the team's loss to Suffolk, Watkins pitched 4.2 innings in relief, giving up just one earned run and registering three strikeouts.

- Mount Aloysius scored the first seven runs of the game, in their win against Salem State.Â
Zack Peck (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon) scored the first on a solo homerun, with Suder delivering a two-RBI single in the sixth inning and J. Brown hitting a two-run homerun in the seventh, adding to the fray. After a two-run homerun by the Vikings in the seventh inning, Suder drove in one more run andÂ
Troy Emert (Rockwood, Pa. / Rockwood) pushed Suder across with an RBI double, in the eighth, giving the Mounties a 9-2 victory.Â
Chris Hasse (Johnstown, Pa. / Westmont Hilltop) earned the first save of his career, tossing 4.0 innings in relief of Quade, giving up just one earned run on the homerun and striking out four batters.
- The Mounties had a big second inning against Suffolk, scoring six runs, all coming on bases loaded at-bats. After the first three batters reached to open the inning,Â
Jared Houser (State College, Pa. / State College) singled to bring home the first run.Â
James Rice (Leechburg, Pa. / Greensburg Central Catholic) followed with an RBI walk, while Suder and Emert kept the train moving by picking up RBI singles. With the bases still loaded and four runs across, Quade picked up an RBI on a double play, which allowed an extra run to come across, as well, giving the Mounties a 6-1 lead. Quade would later homer, driving in his second run of the game, but the Mounties would fall, 14-7.
- In the Mounties loss to Scranton, they scored four runs in the first inning, with Quade and J. Brown each singling to drive in a run. Quade drove in two more runs in the fourth inning on a single to right field, cutting the score to 9-7 Scranton. Mount Aloysius threated in the sixth, down 14-7 by loading the bases to lead off the inning. They scored twice, despite not picking up a hit. Peck earned an RBI by watching four balls and J. Brown got hit by a pitch to push across the other.

- In all three games, the winning team has garnered more hits. The Mounties out-hit the Vikings, on Sunday, 8-5, even though they scored nine runs. In both losses, the Mounties allowed 15 hits and tallied seven and nine hits, themselves.
