How It Happened
Game One
- Mount Aloysius opened up Game One as the visitors and promptly went 1-2-3 in the top half of the opening frame. Two walks and a Mountie error helped the Warriors score a run in the bottom half, which came across on a sacrifice fly, giving them a 1-0 lead.
- Each team remained hitless through the third inning, which included Quade stranding three runners in the bottom of the third, by striking out the Warrior batter with two outs and the bases loaded. The Mounties picked up two singles in the fourth inning and one more in the fifth, but were unable to push a run across.
- The Warriors tacked on three insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. They got two consecutive, one-out, RBI singles and a sacrifice fly, to give them a 4-0 lead. The Mounties failed to threaten, going 1-2-3 in both the sixth and seventh innings.
Game Two
- Neither team made much noise to start Game Two, with the Mounties picking up the only hit on a Quade single in the first. ECSU scored the first runs of the game in the third inning on a three-run homerun. All three hitters came to the plate with two outs in the inning.
- Heading into the fifth inning, the score remained 3-0. In the bottom of the fifth inning, with one out, the Mounties got a double fromÂ
Tyler Suder (Boswell, Pa. / North Star) and Bushey singled to drive him home and make the score 3-1. Quade followed Bushey with a two-run homer that knotted the game at three, heading into the sixth inning.
- ECSU used more two-out lightning in the sixth inning, gathering three hits and using a Mountie error to score two runs and jump in front, 5-3. Despite the Mounties putting their first two hitters of the sixth inning on base, they failed to score and went 1-2-3 in the seventh inning, falling 5-3.
Into the Box Scores
- In Game One, each team only registered three hits. However, the Mounties gave the Warriors more opportunities, as they committed four errors and walked six batters.
- The story of Game Two came in the offensive category as the Mounties out-hit the Warriors, 7-5. Mount Aloysius also left seven runners on base, compared to just three for ECSU.
