CRESSON, Pa. -- On Saturday, the Mount Aloysius Men's Volleyball team returned after a brief Spring Break hiatus to host AMCC-foe, Hiram. The Terriers bested the Mounties in three sets.

Matthew Franz (Johnstown, Ohio / Bishop Hartley) led the Mounties with 12 kills.

Connor O'Mealia (North Chili, N.Y. /Â Churchville Chili), had a team-high, 30 assists.

How It Happened
- Mount Aloysius got off to a hot start by scoring seven of the first nine points. While Hiram fought back, the Mounties held the lead for most of the set, as the Terriers tied it at 19. The Mounties did not trail until 24-23, but saw a 6-2 Hiram run topple the first set to the visitors, 27-25.
- In the second set, the Mounties struggled to keep up, as the Terriers grabbed an early lead, 7-4 and never trailed again. The advantage gradually grew as the biggest lead was the end score, 25-15, putting the Mounties down two sets to zero.
- Hiram jumped ahead again in the third set, 3-1, and kept the pressure on by extending it to 10-5. The Mounties kept the deficit between four and six points, with the Terriers staying ahead, 20-14. A 4-0 Mountie run cut the lead to 20-18 and the Mounties continued to fight back. Down 24-21, Franz and had back-to-back kills to cut the gap to one point, 24-23. Unfortunately, Hiram picked up one more point and downed the Mounties, 25-23, to win the match.

- Hiram out-hit the Mounties in multiple ways on Saturday. They had 11 more kills (43-32) and also a better percentage (.292 to .212). In the second set, the Terriers hit an eye-popping, .519, with 16 kills and just two errors.
- The Terriers had small advantages in aces (3-2) and blocks (8-5), but both were close.

- Mount Aloysius is set to head on the road, Wednesday, when they travel to Geneva to take on the Golden Tornadoes in an conference matchup.
- Geneva beat the Mounties, 3-0, back on March 4, in their first meeting this season. The Golden Tornadoes are 8-0 in AMCC play.
