WINCHESTER, Va. -- On Wednesday, the Mount Aloysius Baseball team traveled to Northern Virginia to take on the 11th-ranked Shenandoah Hornets. Despite leading in the seventh inning, the Mounties fell, 7-5.

Ryan Bushey (Latrobe, Pa. / Derry)Â drove in a run for the Mounties, as well, while
Tyler Suder (Boswell, Pa. / North Star)Â scored twice.
How It Happened
- Mount Aloysius scored a run in the top of the first inning, taking a 1-0 lead. Suder led off the game with a single, followed up by a Lynn single moving him to third. Suder then scored on a wild pitch for the first run.
- Shenandoah tied the game in the bottom of the first, on a solo homerun, before a scoreless second inning. In the third inning, the Hornets used a walk and three consecutive hits to score two runs and grab a 3-1 lead.

Aidan Bell (Woodbridge, Va. / Prince William County)Â led off the Mountie fourth inning with a single and would later be driven in by Bushey, cutting the lead to 3-2. Mount Aloysius starter,
Tyler Quade (Mechanicsville, Md. /Â Chopticon), kept the Hornets off the scoreboard in the bottom of the inning, then Lynn homered in the top of the fifth, giving the Mounties a 4-3 lead at the midway point.
- The sixth inning was uneventful, as both teams had 1-2-3 frames. Then in the seventh, the Mounties added one as Quade reached on an infield single and
James Rice (Leechburg, Pa. / Greensburg Central Catholic)Â scored on the throw to first.
- With a 5-3 lead, the Mounties gave up three hits and a walk in the bottom of the seventh, leading to two runs and a 5-5 score. The Mounties went 1-2-3 in the top of the eighth, before a two-run homerun by the Hornets in the bottom of the eighth put the Mounties behind, 7-5.
- Mount Aloysius went 1-2-3 again in the top of the ninth inning, giving Shenandoah the 7-5 victory.
Into the Box Score
- Shenandoah out-hit the Mounties, tallying 12 hits while the Mounties had eight hits.
- The Mounties only used two pitchers, with Quade and
Chris Hasse (Johnstown, Pa. / Westmont Hilltop). Shenandoah used four pitchers, each pitching 2.2 innings or less. The Hornet starter was relieved after 1.1 innings due to injury.
