Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Mounties Dropped by Penn State-Altoona

CRESSON, PA. -- The Mount Aloysius Men's Volleyball hosted Penn State-Altoona for a conference match-up Wednesday, falling to the Lions 3-1.

Leaders
Matthew Franz (Johnstown, Ohio / Bishop Hartley) led the Mounties with 16 kills.
- Setter Connor O'Mealia (North Chili, N.Y., Churchville Chili) picked up a team-high 24 assists.

How It Happened
- Penn State-Altoona leapt out to a 10-3 lead in the first set, propelled by a handful of Mountie errors. Traded points kept the Mounties out of reach, and the Lions weathered a late set run to take the first 25-16.
- The Lion's Vang was an instrumental piece in the second, assisting all seven of Penn State-Altoona's kills for the set. The Mounties were unable to get a run going as the Lions inched forward, taking the second 25-16.
- Withstanding a run that saw Penn State-Altoona pick up ten out of twelve points played, Mount Aloysius grabbed the closely contested third, sealing the set with a kill from Franz and a block by Jason Freed (East Aurora, N.Y., East Aurora) and Tayshaun Johnson (Uniondale, N.Y., Uniondale).
- The fourth was a one-sided affair, bookended by two substantial Lion runs that each saw eight points go unanswered by the Mounties. Unable to find rhythm amidst a collection of errors, Mount Aloysius would lose the set 25-10, dropping the match 3-1.

Into the Box Score
- Penn State-Altoona outpaced the Mounties in every statistical category but blocks, picking up five to MAC's seven.
