St. Mary's City, Md. -- On Saturday, the Mount Aloysius Lacrosse team traveled to St. Mary's (Md.) to take on the Seahawks in a United East Conference matchup. While they suffered the loss, the Mounties still clinched a spot in the United East Conference postseason tournament, with one game left to play.
St. Mary's (8-7, 3-0 UEC) roughed up the Mounties, scoring 22 unanswered goals. Despite coming into the game with a .500 record, the Seahawks lost three games to teams ranked in the Top 25 and one more just outside the ranking.
Mount Aloysius was extrememly limited on offense, registering only one shot on the day. They were led on defense byÂ
Sage Hoover (Dalmatia, Pa. /Â Line Mountain) andÂ
Courtney Vought (Somerset, Pa. / Somerset). Vought picked up four ground balls, while Hoover picked up three ground balls and caused a turnover.Â
Jordan Mason (Hagerstown, Md. / St. Maria Goretti) also had two ground balls and two caused turnovers, to go with two draw controls. She also tallied the lone shot of the day for Mount Aloysius.
The Mounties will finish the regular season, when they play host to Lancaster Bible on April 29. Both programs have clinched a berth in the postseason tournament. The winner of Saturday's contest will earn the #3 seed, while the loser will be the #4 seed.
