CRESSON, Pa. -- On Thursday, the Mount Aloysius Women's Volleyball team hosted Franciscan in a non-conference matchup. The Barons (6-6) beat the Mounties (4-11) in four sets.

How It Happened
- Both teams played pretty even through the first 19 points of the first set, with the Mounties holding a 10-9 lead. Despite growing that lead to 15-9, the Mounties saw the Barons close the gap at 20-19. Unfortunately, after the Mounties scored the next two points, Franciscan finished off the set by scoring the last six points and earning a 1-0 lead.
- In the second set, the Mounties again grabbed a sizable lead, with their biggest lead coming at 18-11. This time, the Mounties held off some solid play from the Barons and earned a 25-20 victory to knot the game at one set a piece.
- Mount Aloysius held a one point advantage, in the third set, at 8-7, on a kill by
Kaylee Smith (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona). Franciscan responded with six straight points and they would not trail during the rest of the set, ultimately taking a 2-1 lead.
- Franciscan grabbed an early lead in the fourth set and once again, never trailed. They gradually grew their lead and won the set, 25-16, and won the match, 3-1.
Into the Box Score
- Franciscan held a small advantage in the hitting category. For the game, they hit .150, while Mount Aloysius hit .129. The Mounties actually out-hit the Barons in each of the first two sets.
- The biggest difference in the game was in the service category. Franciscan had 17 services aces while Mount Aloysius had just six. The 17 aces were the highest for a team against the Mounties, this season.
