Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Mounties Draw Against Visiting Bengals

CRESSON, Pa. -- On Sunday, the Mount Aloysius Men's Soccer team wrapped up their opening weekend, as they hosted Buffalo State in a non-conference matchup. The game was Buffalo State's opening game of the season. The Mounties and Bengals played to a tough 1-1 draw.

Leaders
- Braden Callahan (Duncansville, Pa. / Hollidaysburg) scored his first goal of the season, marking the Mounties lone tally.
- Goalkeeper Luke Priestley (Edlesborough, England / Aylesbury Grammar School) had three saves for the Mounties. Shae Wirt had a game-high, four saves, for Buffalo State.

How It Happened
- Buffalo State opened the game with a score on their first shot attempt, just three and a half minutes into the contest. The transition style attempt gave them a quick 1-0 lead.
- Less than three minutes later, the Bengals' Riley Quinn committed a foul inside the box on a Mountie corner kick. The foul was deemed worthy of a yellow card and that awarded a penalty kick to the Mounties. Wirt made a quality save on the shot and kept Buffalo State ahead, 1-0.
- Priestley made the only two other saves of the first half, in back-to-back shot attempts. The only other chance in the frame was in the 43rd minute. Callahan got a pass from Chase Conway (Elysburg, Pa. / Southern Columbia), and fired a shot just inside the right post to tie the game up at one. The teams would head into the half with the same score.
- In the second half, there were a couple close calls, but only four total shots that needed to be saved for either team. The only other action was each team picking up a yellow card within approximately 15 seconds of game time. Neither team would score in the second period and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Into the Box Score
- Both teams reached double-digit shot attempts, with 11 for Buffalo State and 10 for Mount Aloysius. Shots on goal were also similar with the Mounties owning a 5-4 advantage.
- Mount Aloysius had four different players register a shot on goal in the contest, while Buffalo State's Diego Rivera recorded three of the four attempts for the Bengals.

Up Next
- The Mounties will stay at home again, this coming week, as they host Lycoming on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
- Lycoming will enter Wednesday's contest with an identical 1-0-1 record, after a tie against Misericordia on Sunday.
- The Warriors have won all five matches against the Mounties, dating back to 2004. Mount Aloysius has not scored a goal against Lycoming in any of the five matchups.
