Cresson, Pa. -- Mount Aloysius women's basketball improved their conference record with an 81-73 victory over Pitt-Greensburg.
While the Mounties put together a great team performance, it was freshman forward
Molly Kosmack (Homer City, Pa., Homer-Center) who would stand out for the home team, recording 24 points and 26 rebounds as she led her team to victory. Kosmack was especially potent on the offensive glass, recording 9 offensive rebounds in the first two quarters as the Mounties would take an 8 point lead into halftime. The Mountie defense fed off this energy, holding the Bobcats to 36% shooting from the field, including a locked down first quarter in which the visitors would shoot just 4-16.
Freshman sixth man
Annalyn Isaacs (Mars, Pa., Mars) opened up the Mountie offense from deep, shooting 5-7 from three while grabbing 5 rebounds. This continues a trend of Isaacs from deep, as she improves to 42% from three on the season. Junior guard
Chloe Clemons (Kailua, Hawaii, Kalaheo) joined her teammate in sharpshooting, going 4-7 from three, contributing to the Mounties most efficient night from three this season.
The Mounties would hold a lead for most of the game, going up by as much as 16 in the fourth quarter. Although a Bobcat four-point play opportunity offered a little stress in the late game, the Mounties limited turnovers in the final minutes to take the 81-73 win. Mount Aloysius improves their record to 4-4 in the AMCC, while Pitt-Greensburg sits just above at 5-4 in conference play.
Mount Aloysius women's basketball travels to Pitt-Bradford on Saturday, January 20th, for another AMCC matchup. The Panthers enter the contest 6-9 overall and 3-6 in conference, coming off a 67-63 win over Penn State Altoona. The Mounties are 1-0 against Pitt-Bradford this season.
