CRESSON, Pa. -- On Wednesday night, the Mount Aloysius Women's Volleyball team hosted their annual Pink Out game, benefitting the Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center. This year's game was against Pitt-Greensburg. The Mounties (10-11, 2-1 AMCC) lost traction after grabbing a 2-0 lead and fell in five sets to the Bobcats (2-19, 1-1 AMCC).
Mount Aloysius jumped out to a 2-0 advantage thanks to hot hitting and some mistakes from the Bobcats. They won the first set, 25-8, and the second set, 25-17. Pitt-Greensburg had just nine kills and 13 errors through the first two frames.
The Mounties struggles started in the third set, where the Bobcats had their best hitting set of the night. In addition, the Mounties committed 13 different errors in the third set alone, helping out Pitt-Greensburg. The fourth set was even worse, as the Mounties committed 19 errors, when coupled with the Bobcats' six kills, gave them another 25-22 set victory to tie the match.
The fifth set continued the trend, as the Mounties committed more errors than the Bobcats had kills, leading to a 15-13 set win for Pitt-Greensburg, completing the comeback.
Pitt-Greensburg hit .032, which was the lowest hitting percentage of any opponent that beat Mount Aloysius, this season.
Molly Richards (Naples, Fla. / Naples)Â led the Mounties with 22 kills, while also adding 24 digs.Â
Mackenzie Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Â Shaler) also registered 16 kills, while hitting .419 and committing just three errors. On the defensive end,Â
Madison Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) had a game-high, 26 digs.
The Mounties will head back on the road for their next three games, beginning with a matchup against Pitt-Bradford, this weekend. The Panthers are 0-2 in AMCC play, with their two losses coming to La Roche and Penn State Behrend, both of which the Mounties already beat this season.
