CRESSON, Pa. -- Senior midfielder
Juan Camacho (Ibaque, Colombia, San Bonifacio de las Lanzas) tied the Mount Aloysius record for career goals this Saturday, Oct. 19, as both the men's and women's teams earned shut-out victories over Pitt-Bradford.
Men's Game
The Mounties would not offer the visitors an opportunity to breathe from the onset, attacking the goal with consistent pressure across the entire ninety minutes of action. Wasting no time with his record-tying effort, Camacho would earn a hat-trick all inside a 7 minute stretching, scoring two from the field starting in the 13th minute before converting a penalty kick in the 20th minute. Although Bradford would earn their first two shots of the game following this onslaught, the Mountie back line would hold strong, ending the half with a 3-0 lead to the hosts.
The final 45 minutes would hold many parallels to the first, with forward
Gonzalo Terricabris (Catalonia, Spain, Garbi Pere Verges) recording a second-half hat trick from the field, assisted by
Joel Martinez (Madrid, Spain, Putnam Science Academy) and
Daniel Irujo (Pamplona, Spain, Sagrado Corazon) in his final two goals. The Mounties would maintain a commanding shot differential, taking thirty-six shots while the Panthers mustered just three. The Mounties improve to 5-1-1 in conference play.
Women's Game
Despite a slow developing, scoreless first half, the Mountie women would some out of halftime with a vengeance. Midfielder
Abby Bell (Hollidaysburg, Pa., Hollidaysburg) would find the back of the net first for the Mounties in the 52nd minute, setting the tone for the final 40 minutes of action. Forward
Grace O'Berry (Boonsboro, MD, Boonsboro) continued the Mounties' scoring momentum with a well-placed shot that extended their lead, putting the hosts up 2-0 with her third goal of the season.
Forward
Brooke Thomas (Altoona, Pa., Altoona) capped off the scoring with a converted penalty kick, solidifying the Mounties' 3-0 advantage. Her goal underscored the team's dominant second half offensive performance, with the hosts out shooting their opponents 17-4 across the final forty-five minutes of play. The Mountie defense held firm, recording their fourth shut-out of the season. The Mounties improve to 3-3-1 in AMCC play.
