Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Bobcats Discomfit Mounties

Cresson, Pa. -- Mount Aloysius men's basketball fell to the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats this Wednesday, February 14th.

The first half was a steady back and forth of solid Mountie shooting being erased with defensive difficulties. The hosts took the early nine point lead, with guard Julius Cummings (Cleveland, Ohio, Villa Angela Saint Joseph) scoring eight points in the first five minutes of action. Cummings would end with a team high 23 points in just 26 minutes of action, hitting seven threes for the contest. Guard Trent Ramirez-Keller (Gettysburg, Pa., Gettysburg) joined Cummings in efficient shooting from deep, going 5-11 from behind the arc en route to 19 points for the Mounties.

Despite the score being evened at various points through the first, another three from Cummings would put the Mounties up 8 with under four minutes left in the half. A cold stretch on offense would hit the Mounties at the same time their defensive woes reached a fever pitch, with the Bobcats scoring on 7 of 9 late possessions to flip the score, going into the second with a 5 point lead over the hosts. The strongest Mountie defensive presence came from forward De'Von Haggans (Harrisburg, PA, Central Dauphin), who would tally 3 blocks for the game alongside 20 points and 9 rebounds.

The Bobcats would maintain a two possession lead for most of the second half, until yet another three pointer from Cummings would put the Mounties within 1 inside the final 30 seconds of the game. Pitt-Greensburg would make their free throws to take a 3 point lead into the final possession of the game, where the Mounties would immediately commit a turnover on an entry pass. Ending with a final free throw, Pitt-Greensburg would claim the 94-91 win over the Mounties.

Mount Aloysius men's basketball travels to Hamburg, N.Y. to take on Hilbert College in the final regular season match up of the year. Hilbert enters the contest 11-13 overall and 7-10 in the AMCC, coming off a 76-50 win over Wells.
