Mounties Defeat Pitt-Greensburg, Advance to AMCC Semifinals

Greensburg, Pa. -- Mount Aloysius women's basketball defeated the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats this Tuesday, February 20th.

Mount Aloysius saved their best basketball for the postseason, putting together their strongest team performance of the year. Freshman forward Molly Kosmack (Homer City, Pa., Homer-Center) recorded her second 20/20 of the season, recording a dominant 23 point, 23 rebound stat line while blocking 2 shots. Sophomore guard Jade Love-Morris (Elizabethtown, Pa., Elizabethtown) would lead the Mountie offense, scoring 28 points with 6 rebounds and 4 assists while shooting 50% from behind the arc.

The Mounties would fall behind after the first half of play, struggling to keep up with the Bobcats 9-18 shooting amid turnover troubles. Down 14 at the half, the Mounties would go into the third quarter refocused and energized, swarming defensively while flowing on offense. Holding Pitt-Greensburg to just 8 third quarter points on 20% shooting, the Mounties would hit five threes to score 24 for the third. Freshman guard Annalyn Isaacs (Mars, Pa., Mars) would continue her hot streak from deep, going 5-6 from behind the arc for the game.

Feeling the momentum, the Mounties would continue their offensive onslaught, scoring a game high 29 points in the fourth quarter to put the game away. The Mounties would increase their lead to as high as 21 in the fourth, maintaining 61% shooting from the field for the quarter. As a team, the Mounties would shoot 50 / 50 / 77 splits for the game, while holding Pitt-Greensburg to just 35 / 32 / 66 splits. Mount Aloysius received more help from their depth than their opponents, earning 22 points from non-starters compared to just three for Pitt-Greensburg.

Mount Aloysius travels to Pittsburgh on Friday for the AMCC Semifinal game against #1 La Roche. La Roche is undefeated in conference play this season, and received a first round bye for the tournament.
