Cresson, Pa. -- Mount Aloysius women's lacrosse opened their 2024 campaign with a 16-3 rout of the Saint Vincent Bearcats this Wednesday, February 22nd.

Katie Figinski (Abingdon, MD, Edgewood) led the Mounties in goals, assists, shots, shots on goal, ground balls, and draw controls.

Jordan Mason (Hagerstown, MD, St. Maria Goretti) scored four goals for the Mounties, while
Hanna Geissler (Irwin, Pa., Norwin),
Courtney Vought (Somerset, PA, Somerset), and
Clara Larios-Soto (Laurel, MD, Laurel) also put in two a piece.

Zoe Swank (Romeoville, IL, Romeoville) saved six shots as the Mountie's goalkeeper.
How It Happened:
- It took just 50 seconds of action for the Mounties to take the lead, with Mason putting in the first goal of the season for the Mounties.
- Initially struggling to move the ball up the field, Saint Vincent found their footing and fired back, evening the score at 1-all five minutes into the game.
- Earning a free position shot just two minutes later, the Mounties would again capture the lead as Vought would score her first goal of the season.
- Scoring three goals in as many minutes to close the first quarter, Figinski's offensive effort would put the Mounties up 5-1 going into the second.
- Three more Mountie goals would be scored before Saint Vincent earned their second score of the game, with seven minutes left in the half.
- The Mountie's response was swift, scoring two in the following minute and going into halftime up 10-2.
- Slowing the pace, the Mounties would steadily increase the deficit across the third quarter, with Figinski, Vought, Larios-Soto and Geissler all scoring in the quarter for the hosts.
- Two quick Mountie goals in the fourth would mark the end of the offensive push forward, while Saint Vincent managed to pick up the final goal of the game with seven minutes left to play.
- A final Swank save would end the game, with Mount Aloysius claiming the 16-3 victory.
