Wilkes-Barre, Pa. -- Mount Aloysius men's volleyball defeated the Lehman College Lightning this Saturday, February 24th, before falling to the Wilkes College Colonels.
Leaders:
- Junior
Andrew Wlodarczyk (East Aurora, N.Y., East Aurora) led the Mounties in kills this weekend with 21.
- Freshman
Evan Schmidt (Loganville, Pa. , Dallastown Area) led the Mounties in assists, racking up 48 in six sets of action.
Game One (Lehman)
How It Happened:
- The Mounties came off the bus ready to play, taking an immediate 14-6 lead behind a five-kill run.
- Two Mountie errors opened the door for Lehman to mount a comeback, but the Mounties were quick to regroup, closing the first set 25-16 behind a handful of Lightning errors.
- Comfortably leading, the Mounties would open the second with a six point run.
- Three mid-set kills from junior
Matthew Franz (Johnstown, Ohio, Bishop Hartley) would put the Mounties up 15-7, when a run of Lehman errors would suddenly put the set at 21-8 in the Mountie's favor.
- Trading points as the set came to a close, Wlodarczyk would put the Mounties up 2-0 with a final kill, taking the second 25-12.
- Lehman was unable to find any way to stop the Mounties early in the third, falling into a 7-16 hole while struggling to develop any strong offensive looks.
- Up 22-10, freshman
Kaleb Repp (Gettysburg, Pa. , Gettysburg) would take serve, hitting an ace as the Mounties took the match 25-12.

- The Mounties would record 40 kills, 22 more than their opponents.
- The Mounties would maintain a strong team hitting percentage of .346 for the game.
Game Two (Wilkes)
How It Happened:
- Charged up from their first match, the Mounties would stick with Wilkes early in the first set.
- At 12-12, Wilkes would suddenly come alive, taking nine of the next ten points to capture a 21-13 lead.
- Despite a late Mountie push, a final Wilkes ace would end the set 25-18 to the hosts.
- The second set was remarkably similar to the first, with the Mounties sticking with Wilkes until the midset point.
- At 14-12, Wilkes would violently extend their lead, going on a seven point run while recording five kills.
- Facing a 12-21 scoreline, the Mounties would fight back, but the effort would be for naught as Wilkes would again take the set 25-18.
- The third set would be a more closely contested event, with the Mounties preventing extended runs from the hosts.
- Leading 11-9, Wilkes would find a handful of three point runs late, putting themselves up 19-14 as the Mounties looked to fire back.
- Closing with efficiency, the Colonels would take seven of the last eight points, ending the match with a 25-15 third set.
Into the Box Score:
- Wilkes would record 37 kills to the Mounties 23.
- Wilkes serving gave the Mounties trouble, as the Colonels would record nine aces across three sets.
