CRESSON, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius men's basketball program suffered a conference loss to Pitt-Greensburg (10-7, 4-4 AMCC) this Wednesday, Jan 22. Guard
BJ Busbee (Cleveland, Ohio, Lutheran East) led all scorers with 33 points.
The Mounties began the game with aggressive team basketball, taking an 11-2 lead after three minutes of play behind great ball movement and transition buckets. Coming out of an early timeout, Pitt-Greensburg would look to steady the ship with interior bully-ball, scoring inside against the hosts to take a 40-39 lead into halftime. While forward
De'Von Haggans (Harrisburg, PA, Central Dauphin) would lead all players in offensive rebounds with nine, the Bobcats' presence on the boards would net the visitors nine more rebounds than the hosts, tipping the possession count in their favor despite similar turnover numbers from both programs.
The second half would see the separation grow to a two-possession game in favor of the visitors, with the Bobcats maintaining that deficit for most of the half. Hot shooting from Busbee late in the game would see the Mounties cut the lead to just three with under thirty seconds to play, but Pitt-Greensburg would convert on free throws to give Mount Aloysius the conference loss, 81-84.
The Mountie men return to action to take on AMCC front runner Pitt-Bradford at home on Saturday, Jan 25. The Panthers enter the contest 14-1 and 7-0 in conference play, coming off a 98-93 win over Pitt-Greensburg.
