Women's Basketball Bests Bobcats As Isaacs Hits 100th Career Three

GREENSBURG, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team recorded a conference victory over the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats (3-14, 1-7 AMCC) this Wednesday, Jan 22. Sophomore guard Annalyn Isaacs (Mars, Pa., Mars) recorded her 100th career three-pointer for the Mounties; Isaacs currently holds the third place spot on the AMCC leader boards for three-pointers this season, while maintaining the fifth-highest three point percentage in the conference.

Wednesday's contest would be a tale of two halves for the Mounties. Opening with solid two way play, the visitors would carve out a 11-1 lead after three minutes of play, when turnover trouble would bring the game within three heading in to the second. the possession troubles would continue as Greensburg would look to take advantage, ending the first half even at 27-all behind a late Bobcat three pointer.

The Mounties would respond with aggression coming out of halftime, led by guard Angelina Kohlwaies (Lake Worth, Fla., Cardinal Newman). Kohlwaies would light up the third, dropping 16 of her final 26 points in the quarter to put the Mounties up 17 going in to the fourth. Posting her best box score of the season, Kohlwaies would shoot 9-15 from the floor for the game, including 6-9 shooting from deep, adding in six assists, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

The Bobcats would not go away despite the lopsided quarter, putting together their highest scoring quarter of the game to cut the lead to single digits going into the final minutes of action. However, the Mounties would make their free throws down the stretch, ending the contest in a 78-59 victory for the visitors.

The Mountie women return to action at home this Saturday, Jan 25, against conference opponent Pitt-Bradford. The Panthers enter the contest 2-12 and 1-7 in the AMCC, coming off a 54-77 loss to Penn State Altoona.
