CRESSON, Pa. -- After setting the program's NCAA record for points scored in a game earlier this season, the Mountie women repeated the feat, setting a new mark with Saturday's 105-77 victory over the Pitt-Bradford Panthers (2-13, 1-8 AMCC). The Mounties' previous record also came against the Panthers on Dec 7, winning the initial conference match up 104-52.
The Mounties would put together a shooting clinic against the Panthers, raining threes offensively while controlling the interior defensively. Guard
Angelina Kohlwaies (Lake Worth, Fla., Cardinal Newman), coming off a season-high 26-point performance at Pitt-Greensburg, would continue her hot streak, going 7-8 from three and 9-10 from the field in just 22 minutes of action. Kohlwaies would end with a team high 25 points to go along with 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals.
The Mounties would also get a shooting boost from the bench, with guard
Brionna Brown (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) going 4-4 from deep in a season-high performance for the freshman. Six Mounties would end scoring in double digits, with the team posting an impressive 59% / 53% / 75% shooting split.
Interior play would also go the Mounties way, with forwards
Molly Kosmack (Homer City, Pa., Homer-Center) and
Mackenzie Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) combining for 22 points on 10-15 shooting. The Mounties would also more than double the Panthers' rebound count, securing 48 boards to the visitors' 23. Firing on all cylinders on both sides of the court, the Mounties would cruise to a 105-77 victory, improving their AMCC record to 6-3.
The Mounties look to extend their three-game win streak with Wednesday's match up in Pittsburgh against the La Roche Redhawks. La Roche enters the contest 14-4 and 8-1 in the AMCC, riding a seven-game win streak, most recently defeating Alfred State 86-54. The Mountie women fell to the Redhawks in a previous game this season, 51-73.
