Cresson, PA -- The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team dropped an AMCC regular season game against defending conference champion Penn State Behrend (7-5, 3-0 AMCC) this Saturday, Jan 4. Guard
Annalyn Isaacs (Mars, Pa., Mars) would lead the Mounties in scoring, going four-for-five from deep en route to a 14 point performance.
The game went awry for the Mounties from the outset, as the Lions would score eight unanswered points to open the proceedings. Despite the rough start, the Mounties would manage to put points on the board, with forward
Molly Kosmack (Homer City, Pa., Homer-Center) joining Isaacs in double-digit scoring output, ending the first quarter in a ten-point hole amidst some Behrend shooting struggles from deep.
The Lions would sort out their three-point shooting in the second quarter, improving to four-for-eight from behind the arc across the second, extending their lead to twenty two going in to halftime. The Mounties would also be plagued by turnover struggles, committing twenty-four across the contest while their opponents would give up just seven. Despite solid shooting in the first quarter, the Mountie offensive efficiency would also take a dip, dropping to 39% from the field and 20% from deep across the final three quarters of action. Behrend's offense would not slow down as the Mounties continued to struggle maintaining possession, with the fourth quarter closing in a 107-66 Lion victory. The Mounties fall to 6-6 overall this season, and 1-3 in conference play.
The Mounties return to action at home this Wednesday, Jan 8, against AMCC opponent Alfred State. The Pioneers enter the game 3-9 overall and 2-1 in conference, coming off a 64-58 win over Pitt-Greensburg.
