ABINGTON, Pa. - Mounties men's soccer team closed out its non-conference schedule on Saturday, falling 2-0 at Penn State Abington.
The Mounties battled throughout the match, keeping the game close behind a solid defensive effort. Sam Denchfield (Truro, England, Loughborough College) made four saves in goal, while senior Daniel Irujo (Pamplona, Spain, Sagrado Corazon) and sophomore Cole Taylor (Bedford, PA, Bedford HS / St Francis University) registered the two Mountie shots.
The Lions scored once in each half, finding the net in the 29th and 63rd minutes. The Mounties created a few early chances but couldn't break through offensively against a compact Abington defense.
With the loss, the Mounties move to 9-5-1 (3-1-1, AMCC) as they now turn their full attention back to AMCC play for the final stretch of the regular season. They head to first-place La Roche College (7-3-3, 4-0-1 AMCC) on Wednesday for a crucial evening matchup with the Redhawks. Kickoff will be at 4 PM at the Baierl Athletic Complex.
