BRADFORD, Pa. — The Mount Aloysius men's soccer team (10-5-2, 4-1-2 AMCC) picked up a decisive 6-1 road win over Pitt-Bradford (6-9-1, 3-5 AMCC) in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action Saturday afternoon. Kickoff was at 3:30 p.m.
The Panthers struck first just one minute into the match, but the Mounties responded with six unanswered goals to take full control. Joel Martinez (Madrid, Spain, Putnam Science Academy) started the scoring for Mount Aloysius in the 30th minute, finishing a pass from Cole Taylor (Bedford, PA, Bedford HS / St Francis University) to even the match at 1-1. Joel Martinez struck again eight minutes later with an unassisted goal to put the Mounties ahead.
Levi Bryne (Storvreta, Sweden, Celsiusskolan) added to the lead in the 41st minute off an assist from Joel Martinez, sending Mount Aloysius into halftime with a 3-1 advantage.
Just seconds into the second half, Hugo Olausson Ljungmark (Trelleborg, Sweden, Soderlattsgymnasiet) found the back of the net in the 46th minute, assisted by Tanner Polcyn (Watsontown, Pa., Warrior Run) and Hippolyte Delhaes (Bayonne, France, Lycee Saint-Louis VIlla Pia). Levi Bryne tallied his second goal of the day in the 52nd minute, and Manuel Prats (Madrid, Spain, International School of Madrid) closed the scoring in the 65th to secure the 6-1 win.
The victory keeps the Mounties near the top of the AMCC standings with one regular-season match remaining. Mount Aloysius will return home to face Pitt-Greensburg on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m.
