Pittsburgh, Pa. — Mt. Aloysius opened conference play with a dominant performance, rolling past Carlow 98–54 on Tuesday night at the Donahue Pavilion.
The Mounties (2–4, 1–0 AMCC) controlled the game from the opening tip, racing out to a 26–12 lead after the first quarter and never looking back. Mt. Aloysius shot 52.2% from the field and knocked down 10 3-pointers while holding Carlow (0–8, 0–1 AMCC) to 26.9% shooting.
Molly Kosmack (Homer City, Pa., Homer-Center) powered the Mounties with 18 points on the night to go along with 17 rebounds, putting her past the 1,000 point career milestone as a Mountie. Mackenzie Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) added 14 points and 11 boards, giving Mt. Aloysius a strong interior presence on both ends.
Annalyn Isaacs (Harmony, Pa., Mars) and Brionna Brown (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) chipped in 13 points apiece, with Brown going a perfect 4-for-4 from the line. Taylor Doyle (Blanchard, Pa., Central Mountain) sparked the Mounties off the bench with 13 points in just 11 minutes, helping Mt. Aloysius' reserves outscore Carlow's bench 32–14.
Mt. Aloysius broke the game open with a 23-point second quarter, then matched that pace coming out of halftime with another 26-point frame. The Mounties led by as many as 48 late in the fourth.
Mt. Aloysius dominated the glass 54–41, converted 22 second-chance points, and turned 12 Carlow turnovers into 17 points. The Mounties also generated 25 fast-break points, consistently pushing the tempo after defensive stops.
