Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Wilmington Pulls Away as Mounties Complete M Club Classic

Alliance, Ohio - Men's basketball wrapped up the M Club Classic this afternoon hosted by the University of Mount Union. The Mounties took on Wilington College, and were defeated by the score of 108-67.

The Mounties were unable to keep pace early as Wilmington built a 49-28 halftime lead, capitalizing on second-chance opportunities and transition scoring. Mount Aloysius struggled to find consistency offensively in the opening half, shooting 40 percent from the field and just 1-of-8 from three-point range.

Offensively, the Mounties showed improvement after the break. The Mounties shot 48.3 percent in the second half and connected on five three-pointers, matching Wilmington for stretches.

Fin Hutchison (Murrysville, Pa., Franklin Regional) led the Mounties with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting, topping his previous career high of 11 points which was set yesterday versus Mount Union. Troy Tinch (Baltimore, Md., Calvert Hall) also scored 14 points, while Donovan Bass-Briscoe (Alexandria, Va., Hayfield) added nine points and dished out five assists.

Despite the improved second-half efficiency, Wilmington continued to extend its lead behind strong interior scoring and depth, finishing with 62 points in the paint and 32 second-chance points. The Quakers scored 59 points in the second half and received contributions throughout the lineup.

The Mounties finished the game shooting 44.1 percent from the field and 31.6 percent from beyond the arc but was limited by turnover and rebounding margins.

The Mounties fall to 1-9 on the season and will transition back into AMCC play for their next few matchups. They'll host the Pitt-Bradford Panthers (6-5, 1-2 AMCC) next Wednesday inside the ACWC. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
