ERIE, Pa. – The Mount Aloysius Mounties (11-8) went on the road to face off against the Penn State Behrend Lions (13-5) on their home court. In a game that was tightly contested throughout, Penn State Behrend would pull away in the fourth quarter to secure a 74-55 victory over the Mounties. The game was a back-and-forth battle throughout the first three quarters with Behrend holding a narrow 52-49 lead heading into the final 10 minutes. However, the Lions would go on a 22-6 run in the fourth quarter to win the game by 19 points and ultimately take down the Mounties.
The Mounties (11-9) were led by
Molly Kosmack (Homer City, Pa., Homer-Center), who posted a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Angelina Kohlwaies (Lake Worth, Fla., Cardinal Newman) added 13 points and 8 rebounds, while
Molly Richards (Naples, Fla., Naples) contributed 11 points and 3 rebounds. With these performances the Mounties look to keep building momentum as they get deeper into the season and closer to the playoffs.
The statistic of the night that would make the biggest difference in the game was the turnover battle. The Mounties would tally up 26 turnovers on the night as a team, compared to the Lions 7 turnovers as a team. Ball control being the achilles heal on the night for the Mounties.
The Mounties will look to bounce back as they will return to action on Wednesday, February 5th. The Mounties will head on the road to face the Penn State Altoona Lions. This game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM.
