ALTOONA, Pa. (Feb. 5, 2025) – The Mount Aloysius Mounties (5-16, 3-9) dropped a tough road contest to conference opponent, the Penn State Altoona Lions (12-8, 8-3) in a 89-83 defeat. The game, originally scheduled for a later time but was moved up to 4:30 p.m. to avoid potential weather issues later in the evening.
The Mounties were led by
De'Von Haggans (Harrisburg, PA, Central Dauphin), who had a stellar performance, scoring 23 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, and blocking 2 shots. Haggans, also surpassed the 1,000-point milestone tonight for his career as a Mountie.
Troy Tinch (Baltimore, Md., Calvert Hall) contributed 14 points, while
Ronnie McClain (Canton, Ohio, McKinley) was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field as well as 4-4 from the free throw line, scoring 14 points in just 19 minutes of play.
Despite these strong individual efforts, the Mounties could not overcome the Lions, who shot 49.2 percent from the field and were led by a combination of strong offense and strong defense. Mount Aloysius fought hard before ultimately falling by 6 points in a high-scoring affair.
The Mounties will look to bounce back this Saturday as they travel to Alfred, N.Y., to face the Alfred State Pioneers (3-17, 2-9). Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
