Cresson, Pa – The Mount Aloysius Mounties (4-13, 1-1) returned home from their spring break trip to face off against conference opponent the Carlow Celtics (0-9, 0-1).
The Mounties jumped out to an early 10-1 lead in the first set and never looked back. They maintained their momentum throughout, winning all three sets 25-9, 25-18, and 25-13. A key factor in the outcome was errors, with Carlow committing ten compared to the Mounties' four.
The Mounties saw strong performances from players across the board.
Andrew Wlodarczyk (East Aurora, N.Y., East Aurora) led the team with 10 kills, followed closely by
Matthew Franz (Johnstown, Ohio, Bishop Hartley) with 9. Setter
Evan Schmidt (Loganville, Pa. , Dallastown Area) contributed 23 assists, while
Connor O'Mealia (North Chili, N.Y., Churchville Chili) and
Jason Freed (East Aurora, N.Y., East Aurora) each tallied 4 aces. Freed also added 3 blocks.
Corey Obeldobel (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) led the team with 7 digs.
The Mounties will be back in action next, as they are scheduled to take on King's College. They will travel to Frederick, Md., with the game set to begin at 2 PM.
