CRESSON, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius Women's Lacrosse team secured their first conference win of the season with a 9-8 victory against Alfred State (2-4, 0-1 AMCC). Katelyn Garber (Midlothian, Va., Manchester) and Bella Gary (Somerset, Pa., Somerset) both would score their first career goals in the victory and Courtney Vought would secure her first conference win as a coach.

It was a rough start for the Mounties, who found themselves down 4-2 after the first quarter due to conceding two power play goals. Poor discipline would be a theme throughout the game with the Mounties receiving four green cards and five yellow cards. 

However, the Mounties would turn it around offensively, scoring three unanswered goals on six shots in the second quarter to head into halftime with a 5-4 lead.

The second half of the game was a back-and-forth affair, with the Mounties and Pioneers trading goals in the third and fourth quarters. Mount Aloysius would lead it late as Gary scored the game winner with 1:36 left on the clock. 

The goal scorers for the Mounties were: Cassidy Cook (Glen Burnie, Md., North County) and Brenna Dobson (Lewistown, Pa., Mifflin County) each with two, and Maggie Cason (Spotsylvania, Va., Riverbend), Hanna Geissler (Irwin, Pa., Norwin), Isabella Panichelle (Butler, Pa., Butler), Garber, and Gary with one each.

Women's lacrosse takes a short break from conference play to face Thiel in a makeup game on Tuesday, April 1st. Thiel enters the game 7-1 on the season, following a 21-4 victory over Bethany on Saturday.
