Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse | | by Alexis Weyandt

Mounties Overpowered by Thiel

CRESSON, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius women's lacrosse team (2-5) would fall to a 17-5 defeat against Thiel (8-1). The Mounties would fight back, but it wouldn't be enough as Thiel converted 17 of 19 shots on goal.

Thiel started off hot, scoring six goals in the first quarter alone. It wasn't until deep into the second quarter that the Mounties would score with Cassidy Cook (Glen Burnie, Md. / North County) driving through the Thiel defense to score. Thiel would keep their foot on the pedal though, scoring a further six goals to head into halftime with a 12-3 lead.

Things would improve defensively in the second half, with the Mounties only conceding five goals off of 16 shots. Unfortunately, it would be too little too late as the Mounties would go on to lose 17-5.

The goal scorers for the Mounties were: Cook with two, and Maggie Cason (Spotsylvania, Va. / Riverbend), Brenna Dobson (Lewistown, Pa., Mifflin County), and Clara Larios-Soto (Laurel, MD, Laurel) with one each.

Women's lacrosse returns to conference play with a road trip to Hamburg, N.Y. to face the Hilbert Hawks on Saturday, April 5th. Hilbert will look to bounce back in the conference after a 21-6 loss to a strong La Roche side.
