Mounties Overwhelmed by Redhawks

Cresson, Pa. - The Mount Aloysius women's lacrosse team took on the La Roche Redhawks in what would be their first matchup of the season, on Thursday. Both teams would look to build on strong, undefeated starts in the conference. However, it would not go well for the Mounties, with the La Roche Redhawks storming to a 14-1 victory. 

It was a dreary night and game for the Mounties, with the Mount turning the ball over 33 times, compared to La Roche's 20. The Mount would also struggle to clear the ball, only clearing the ball successfully 45% of the time (10 out of 22). 

Offensively, the Mounties would struggle to muster scoring opportunities, only having 12 shots, 7 of which were on goal. Meanwhile, the Redhawks would make the most of their opportunities, scoring on all 14 of their shots on goal. They would also go 3-for-3 on free position shots. 

The goal scorer for the Mounties was Katelyn Garber (Midlothian, Va. / Manchester). 

Women's lacrosse continues conference play, traveling to Alfred, N.Y. to face Alfred State on Saturday, April 12th. The Mounties will look to complete the sweep after beating the Pioneers 9-8, earlier this season.
