Huntingdon, Pa. – The Mount Aloysius Mounties (18-6, 1-1) traveled to face the Juniata College Golden Eagles (7-16, 2-10). The game was moved up an hour to avoid inclement weather later in the evening. However, the rain could not be avoided. The Mounties held a 1-0 lead after three innings before being forced into a 2-hour and 20-minute rain delay.
Post-Rain Delay
After the delay, the Mounties maintained their momentum, adding two more runs to extend their lead to 3-0.
Griffin Tunison (Luthvle Timon, Md., Dulaney) singled to right-center, scoring
Tyler Day (La Plata, Md., La Plata) and advancing
Trent Dickson (Reinholds, PA, Cocalico HS) to third base. Mountie outfielder
Brandon Cook (Glen Burnie, Md., St. Mary's Annapolis) followed with a single, bringing Dickson home.
With the Mounties leading 3-0, the Golden Eagles responded in the bottom of the sixth inning. Juniata managed to score two runs off a two-run home run, keeping the game close.
The Eighth Inning
In the top of the eighth, the Mounties responded and extended their lead.
Owen McDermott (West Leechburg, Pa., Leechburg) led off with a single to center field, followed by
Jeremy Eck (Myerstown, Pa., Eastern Lebanon County), who singled to left, putting a runner in scoring position.
Jameson Chalupka (Lackawanna, N.Y., Canisius) pinch-hit for the Mounties and singled up the middle, loading the bases.
Trent Dickson was then hit by a pitch, driving in a run for the Mounties. Eck scored on a passed ball, and
Griffin Tunison hit a sacrifice fly to right field, bringing in the third run of the inning.
The Mounties led 6-2 after the inning, and that would go on to be the final score of the game.
On the Mound
Tyler Alexander (Portage, PA, Delgado CC) earned the win for the Mounties, pitching 3.1 innings, throwing 53 pitches, striking out three batters, and allowing just one hit.

The Mounties will return to action on April 5th, traveling to face conference opponent Penn State Behrend in a doubleheader. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
