PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Mount Aloysius women's basketball turned in a competitive road effort Tuesday night, highlighted by strong individual performances, but fell 81–59 in an AMCC matchup at Kerr Fitness & Sports Center.
The Mounties opened the game with confidence, battling to a 13–13 tie at the end of the first quarter. Mount Aloysius continued to execute offensively in the second, shooting efficiently and converting at the free-throw line, but entered halftime trailing 35–26.
Mount Aloysius responded out of the break with its best offensive quarter of the night, scoring 18 points in the third. Molly Kosmack (Homer City, Pa., Homer-Center) led the charge inside, finishing with a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds while shooting 6-for-8 from the floor. Mackenzie Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) added 13 points, going a perfect 7-for-7 at the free-throw line, as the Mounties continued to attack the paint and keep the game within reach.
Annalyn Isaacs (Harmony, Pa., Mars) reached double figures with 10 points, knocking down two three-pointers, while Masie Reed (Shamokin, Pa., Our Lady of Lourdes) provided an efficient spark, shooting 2-for-2 from the field and 2-for-2 from beyond the arc to finish with seven points. The Mounties shot 43.5 percent from the field and totaled 26 points in the paint.
Despite a determined effort in the fourth quarter, Mount Aloysius was unable to close the gap late. The game featured six ties and five lead changes, reflecting a hard-fought contest throughout.
Mount Aloysius finished with 30 rebounds and 12 assists and moves to 5-9 overall and 3-2 in AMCC play. The Mounties will look to carry the positive individual performances and competitive stretches forward as conference play continues.
