Mount Aloysius falls 61–58 in tight AMCC contest

CRESSON, Pa. — Mount Aloysius came up just short Wednesday night, dropping a hard-fought 61–58 decision in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference women's basketball contest at the Athletic Convocation & Wellness Center.

The Mounties stayed within striking distance throughout and battled through six lead changes and four ties, trimming the deficit to one possession in the final minutes before time ran out. Mount Aloysius matched its opponent on the glass with 38 rebounds and shot over 40 percent from the field, keeping the game tight into the closing stretch.

Annalyn Isaacs (Harmony, Pa., Mars) led the Mounties with 12 points, knocking down four 3-pointers, while Brionna Brown (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) added 12 points off the bench to spark the offense. Molly Kosmack (Homer City, Pa., Homer-Center) turned in a strong all-around performance with nine points and a game-high 12 rebounds, anchoring the Mounties inside.

Mount Aloysius used a strong second quarter, highlighted by efficient perimeter shooting, to take momentum into halftime. The Mounties continued to respond to every run in the second half, outscoring their opponent from the free-throw line and holding steady defensively down the stretch.

Mount Aloysius moved to 6–11 overall and 4–4 in AMCC play and will look to build on the effort as conference action continues.
