Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Mounties Battle, But Fall To Panthers Despite Jenkins' Double-Double

Bradford, Pa. - Men's basketball took on Pitt-Bradford this afternoon at the McDowell Sport & Fitness Center. A strong first half by the Panthers proved to be the difference, as they defeated the Mounties by the score of 91-77.

The Panthers controlled much of the first half and carried a 47-33 advantage into the break. Senique Jenkins (Columbus, Ohio, Imani Christian ) and Troy Tinch (Baltimore, Md., Calvert Hall) anchored the Mounties early, with Jenkins recording 12 points and 10 rebounds by halftime, while Tinch added 11 points to keep Mount Aloysius within striking distance.

Pitt-Bradford opened the second half with a run that threatened to stretch the margin, but the Mounties responded and refused to let the game get out of reach. Mount Aloysius matched the Panthers the rest of the way, scoring 44 points in the second half and consistently answering Bradford baskets to stay competitive down the stretch.

Jenkins turned in a dominant performance, finishing with a career-high 26 points on 12-of-18 shooting and also a career-high 18 rebounds. Tinch followed with 14 points off the bench, while Fin Hutchison (Murrysville, Pa., Franklin Regional) added 12 points, including a pair of three-pointers.

Mount Aloysius found success attacking the paint and in transition, scoring 48 points in the paint and 28 fast-break points. Despite the effort, Pitt-Bradford's early momentum and depth which was highlighted by strong first-half shooting, allowed the Panthers to hold on.

With the loss, the Mounties drop to 2-16 overall and 0-9 in AMCC play, while Pitt-Bradford improves to 10-7 overall and 5-3 in conference action.

The Mounties will wrap up the month of January this upcoming Wednesday when they'll host the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats (15-3, 7-2 AMCC). The Bobcats defeated the Mounties two weeks ago by the score of 96-59. Jump ball wil be at 7 PM in the ACWC.
