CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Mount Aloysius men's volleyball team continued to show steady improvement in their tri-match opener on Saturday, battling through three competitive sets against an undefeated opponent at Gannett Field House.

Despite the 3–0 setback (25–13, 25–17, 25–19), the Mounties improved their offensive rhythm as the match progressed, nearly doubling their point total from the opening set to the final frame and closing the match with their best stretch of volleyball on the day.

Mount Aloysius was led by Brady Diegelman (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler Area), who posted six kills while adding an ace, two blocks, and a team-high 11 digs in an all-around performance. Zach Rosenwald (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) chipped in five kills and four digs, while Jason Freed (East Aurora, N.Y., East Aurora) added three kills and a pair of blocks at the net. Connor O'Mealia (Rochester, N.Y., Churchville) orchestrated the offense with 18 assists, helping the Mounties find better efficiency as the match wore on.

The Mounties recorded 19 kills and showed flashes of defensive toughness with 25 digs and three total blocks. After a difficult opening set, Mount Aloysius responded with a stronger second set and pushed the tempo in the third, cutting into the deficit and forcing extended rallies.

The Phoenix, ranked among the early season's unbeaten teams, used balanced scoring, strong serving pressure, and a .264 hitting percentage to control the match, but the Mounties' late-match surge highlighted their growing cohesion and resilience.
