Mounties Roll Past Pitt Bradford

CRESSON, Pa. — Mount Aloysius delivered a dominant all-around performance to secure a 71–44 victory over Pitt.-Bradford on Wednesday afternoon in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference women's basketball game at the Athletic Convocation & Wellness Center.

The Mounties (5-7, 3-0 AMCC) jumped out to an early advantage and never looked back, taking an 18–6 lead after the first quarter while holding the Panthers to under 12 percent shooting in the opening period. Mount Aloysius continued to build its lead through steady defense and balanced scoring, entering halftime ahead 31–21.

A decisive third quarter put the game out of reach as the Mounties outscored Pitt.-Bradford 25–13, using strong interior play and transition opportunities to stretch the margin. Mount Aloysius led by as many as 30 points in the second half.

Brionna Brown (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) sparked the Mounties off the bench with a team-high 11 points, leading a reserve unit that accounted for 37 points. Masie Reed (Shamokin, Pa., Our Lady of Lourdes) added nine points, while Mackenzie Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) and Haley Ross (Three Springs, Pa., Southern Huntingdon) chipped in eight points apiece. Mariah Hall (New Enterprise, Pa., Northern Bedford) provided an efficient scoring boost, finishing with seven points on perfect shooting.

Mount Aloysius finished with 30 points in the paint and capitalized at the free-throw line, converting 16 of 22 attempts. Defensively, the Mounties forced 25 turnovers and limited Pitt.-Bradford to 25.4 percent shooting from the field.

Mount Aloysius will look to continue its unbeaten conference run as it returns to AMCC play later this week.
