Hawks Start Scorching Hot, Defeat The Mounties in AMCC Play

Hamburg, N.Y. - The Mount Aloysius men's basketball team fell 92-52 to the Hilbert Hawks on Saturday afternoon at the Brad Hafner Recreation Center.

Hilbert came out scorching hot from the field, pulling away early with efficient shooting. Despite an early effort from the Mounties, the Hawks steadily widened the gap and carried a commanding 48-22 lead into halftime, building a 26-point advantage behind their hot start.

The Mounties continued to compete after the break and showed more offensive rhythm in the second half, scoring 30 points after intermission. Troy Tinch (Baltimore, Md., Calvert Hall) led the Mounties with 15 points on an efficient 7-of-12 shooting performance, while Senique Jenkins (Columbus, Ohio, Imani Christian) added yet another double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Mount Aloysius also generated 16 second-chance points and finished with 39 rebounds, matching Hilbert on the glass.

However, the Hawks never looked back, continuing to extend their lead with strong perimeter shooting and transition offense. Hilbert shot over 53 percent from the floor for the game and connected on 13 three-pointers, pulling away even further down the stretch to secure the conference victory.

The loss snaps the Mounties' two-game win streak and they drop to 4-19 overall and 2-12 in AMCC play. MBB's final road trip of the season will be this Wednesday when they travel to Pittsburgh, PA to take on the Carlow Celtics. The Celtics defeated the Mounties in their first matchup this season, defeating the Mounties 88-76.
