Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Road Test Proves Tough as Mounties Fall in Straight Sets

Erie, PA - Mount Aloysius men's volleyball hit the road on Saturday morning but couldn't find its rhythm in a straight-sets loss to Penn State Behrend, falling 3-0 (14-25, 15-25, 14-25) inside Junker Center Gym.

The Mounties showed flashes early, turning in their most efficient set of the match in the opener with a .227 hitting percentage, but Penn State Behrend's blistering .688 attack proved too much to overcome. The Lions committed zero errors in the first frame, quickly seizing momentum they would not relinquish.

Set two saw Mount Aloysius struggle to maintain consistency, as 11 attack errors led to a negative hitting percentage (-.071). Despite more competitive stretches and longer rallies, the Lions capitalized on Mounties miscues to build a comfortable lead and take a 2-0 advantage in the match.

In the third, Mount Aloysius tightened things up defensively and cut down on errors, but Penn State Behrend continued to dictate play with a balanced offensive attack. The Lions posted 13 kills in the final set, closing out the sweep with another double-digit win.

Bryson Brooks (Martinsburg, Pa., Central) and Brady Diegelman (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler Area) paced the Mounties offensively with eight kills apiece, while Zach Rosenwald (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) added six. Setter Connor O'Mealia (Rochester, N.Y., Churchville) facilitated the offense with 25 assists and chipped in seven digs and an ace in an all-around effort.

Overall, Penn State Behrend's efficiency proved to be the difference, hitting .352 as a team compared to .078 for the Mounties. The Lions also held advantages in kills (33-26), blocks (5-0), and service pressure, keeping the Mounties on their heels throughout the match.

The Mounties (3-21) will play their final home game of the 2026 season in their next game, hosting Penn State Altoona (6-15) on Tuesday at 7 pm inside the ACWC.
