HAMBURG, N.Y. — The Mount Aloysius Mounties dropped a four-set AMCC contest on Friday evening, falling 3-1 to Hilbert inside the Brad Hafner Recreation Center.

Mount Aloysius (3-23, 3-8 AMCC) came out strong, taking the opening set 25-23 behind an efficient offensive performance. The Mounties hit an impressive .368 in the first set, totaling 18 kills while setting the tone early in the match.

Hilbert responded in the second set, using a strong hitting performance to even the match with a 25-18 win. The momentum carried into the third set, where Mount Aloysius battled late but came up just short in a tightly contested 26-24 decision.

In the fourth set, the Mounties remained competitive but were unable to slow the opposition's offense, ultimately falling 25-18 to close out the match.

Mount Aloysius finished with 54 kills and a .261 hitting percentage as a team. Brady Diegelman (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler Area) led the way with a dominant all-around performance, recording 18 kills, 12 digs, and three service aces. Zach Rosenwald (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) added 14 kills, while Jason Freed (East Aurora, N.Y., East Aurora) contributed nine kills and 10 digs.

Connor O'Mealia (Rochester, N.Y., Churchville) orchestrated the offense with 43 assists to go along with nine digs, while the Mounties totaled 48 digs defensively in the match.
