BRADFORD, Pa. — The Mount Aloysius Mounties closed out the regular season on Saturday with a doubleheader split, earning a dominant Game One victory before dropping a tightly contested Game Two on the road. With the results, Mount Aloysius secures the No. 5 seed in the upcoming AMCC Baseball Tournament and will face No. 4 seed Alfred State in the opening round.
Game One: Mount Aloysius 5, Pitt.-Bradford 0
The Mounties opened the day in dominant fashion behind a complete-game shutout from Troy Misiura (Coalport, Pa., Glendale), who tossed seven scoreless innings, allowing just six hits while striking out eight to earn the win.
After three scoreless innings, Mount Aloysius broke the game open in the fourth with a four-run frame. Dimitri Spagnola (West Leechburg, Pa., Kiski) delivered a key two-RBI double to spark the rally, while Michael Todd (Pittsburgh, Pa., Seton LaSalle) added two RBIs to help extend the lead. The Mounties added another run in the fifth to secure the 5–0 advantage.
Sidric Grove (Clearville, Pa., Everett) led the offense with a 2-for-3 performance and a run scored, while Logan Quade (Mechanicsville, Md., Chopticon ) added an RBI. Mount Aloysius capitalized on limited opportunities, drawing walks, getting hit by pitches, and executing in key moments to manufacture runs.
Game Two: Mount Aloysius 5, Pitt.-Bradford 6
In the nightcap, the Mounties battled throughout but came up just short in a 6–5 decision.
Mount Aloysius totaled 11 hits in the game and scored in five different innings, taking an early lead with runs in the third and fourth. Dimitri Spagnola paced the offense with a strong performance, going 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Logan Quade and Anthony Maseto (Cherry Tree, Pa., Harmony) each added two hits and an RBI, while Michael Todd contributed two hits and scored three runs.
The Mounties continued to apply pressure late, adding runs in the sixth and eighth innings to stay within striking distance. Despite the offensive production, Mount Aloysius left 11 runners on base and was unable to deliver the go-ahead run down the stretch.
On the mound, the Mounties used multiple arms to keep the game close, with Tanner Abrams (Pleasantville, Pa., Titusville) making the start and Mason Gearhart (Cherry Tree, Pa., Purchase Line) providing key relief innings. The game remained tight into the final inning before a late run proved to be the difference.
